Overview

In the tradition of the indigenous system of therapy, specifically Ayurveda, Dasapushpam constitute a group of ten potential herbs that are culturally and medicinally significant to the people of Kerala, India.
This group of ten herbs is used by women to adorn their hair and perform the Thiruvathira Kali dance on the day of Thiruvathira in the Malayalam month of Dhanu.
These plants are therapeutically active and have been utilized since time immemorial.
Karuka belongs to the Poaceae family.

Cynodon dactylon is native to Europe, Africa, Australia, and much of Asia. Contrary to its common name, it is not native to Bermuda. Introduced to North America in the mid-1800s as a pasture grass, it is widely used as a turf grass, preferring moist and warm climates with good light to grow.
Other names include Dhoob, dūrvā grass, ethana grass, dubo, dog grass, dog’s tooth grass, Bahama grass, crab grass, devil’s grass, couch grass, Indian doab, arugampul, grama, wiregrass and scutch grass.

Cynodon dactylon contains a bio-chemical compound called cynodon dactylon protein fractions (CDPF), which enhances the body’s immunity. It is an easily available and affordable immunity booster and energizer, promoting immune-modulation for optimal immune system function.
Cynodon dactylon contains flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, terpenoids, triterpenoids steroids, saponins, tannins, resins, phytosterols, reducing sugars, carbohydrates, proteins, volatile oils and fixed oils.

Durva grass juice with water helps detoxify the body by releasing toxins and is good for acidity, urinary tract infections, and digestion.
Doob grass serves as a herbal remedy for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
Applying Bermuda grass juice over the affected eye region is effective for overcoming eye infections.
Durva grass acts as a natural blood purifier, maintaining blood alkalinity. It is effective in curtailing blood loss due to injury, nosebleeds, or excessive menstrual flow, increasing red blood cell production and preventing anaemia.

It is used in treating skin concerns and maintain body coolness, keeping the skin’s spores clean and clear of dirt, sweat, and bacteria.
It is complexion-enhancing, astringent, moisturizing, demulcent, and a skin coolant.

Oil made with Cynodon dactylon is applied to the head and body to relieve skin dryness and dandruff.
Dried leaves of Cynodon dactylon strengthen hair follicles.
