Habitat

  • Aerva lanata is native to tropical Africa, South Africa, Madagascar, Saudi Arabia, and tropical Asia. It thrives in damper sites, open forests on mountain slopes, waste grounds, deserted cultivation, coastal scrub, and altitudes up to 900 m (3,000 ft) above sea level.
  • The plant grows from whitish papery stipules with two lobes and red bases. Clusters of two or three flowers emerge in the leaf axils, with a size of about 0.1 in (2.5 mm) in length, featuring pink, green or dull white colors. Self-pollination is typical, and the flowering period spans from May to October.
